Welcome to
Portland’s Queer Parenting Village
We’re creating real-world community for LGBTQIA2s+ parents, caregivers, kiddos, and the support systems that hold them all.
Raising young children can feel isolating and for many queer families, finding folks who know what it's like can feel impossible. Family Friend is making it our mission to make finding community not only possible, but accessible for queer families who need it most. Through pop-up playgroups and curated family events, we’re building the community spaces our families need to connect, share resources, and grow together.
We are committed to maintaining direction that is mission driven, community-led, values process over perfection, and is sustainable enough to continue to support many generations to come.
Looking Ahead:
A Home For Family Friend
We’re set to find a place to nest Family Friend’s programming and grow our community. By 2027, we envision settling in a “Clubhouse” space that is part cozy parent lounge, part imaginative play area for little ones, with additional spaces for learning and gathering.
Once we’re settled in , we’ll have even more robust daily programming and offerings for members.
Our “Clubhouse” will be a space to:
⊛ Drop in, relax and connect with friends while the kids play nearby
⊛ Attend parent and caregiver workshops, playgroups, music circles, and classes
⊛ Join coworking style “quiet hours” designed for grown ups to connect
⊛ Create and host your own events in a safe and affirming space
This will be the next chapter in building something needed: a real world village for Portland’s queer families, rooted in care, joy, and belonging.
